Kerala
conservation of paddy field and wet lands Bill.
The extent
of paddy field and wet lands has been progressively shrinking
in the State. This has resulted in the ruination of ecological
balance and acute shortage of drinking water in summer months.
It has also seriously affected the production of paddy in the
State. With a view to enact law against this disastrous trend
the draft Kerala Conservation of Paddy field and Wet lands Bill
was introduced in the Assembly on 19.09.2007 and it is under legislative
process. The bill aims at the conservation of paddy field and
wetlands and preventing their filling and conversion for other
purposes.
